Celebrating the life and art of the late Leena Tähtinen Wallis [1926-2004] and Gillian Wallis Johnston.
The cyclical rhythm of life represented by the garden is the art behind EdenDesign. The art of mother and daughter is inspired by the garden they shared and is the metaphor for the relationship between one generation and the next.
Through her lively watercolours, Leena portrays the plants and flowers she nurtured in their profusion of colours and textures. She captures them in full bloom, life at its most passionate and energetic.
This is the energy behind EdenDesign.
In her mixed media works, Gillian in turn responds to the same garden as a complex interplay of forms and energies. Her materials include plant matter gathered from the garden, photographs of its parts and botanical illustrations in ink and watercolour of the plants that lived and died in it. Her works record, remember and bear witness to the processes that create, end and recreate life.
This is the life behind EdenDesign.
